The Rising Star of Rusty Nail - Lesley Blume

Franny Hansen is a 10-year-old piano prodigy living in Rusty Nail, Minnesota. Once the Coot Capitol of the world, in 1953 it's just a run-of-the-mill town with one traffic light and a bizarre cast of characters. She's long exhausted the talents of the town's only piano teacher and seems destined to perform at church events and school assemblies, until a mysterious Russian woman arrives in Rusty Nail. Franny's neighbors are convinced the "Commie" is a threat to their American way of life, but Franny's not so sure. Could this stranger be her ticket out of Rusty Nail?

  1. Hi my name is Danielle. And that book was the first book that I had read.I like that book because it was a good book and talks about piano's and I like pianos and I want to larn how to play a piano. But the person I like in the book is Franny because she was the onr who took lessons at the commie house. And had begged to get the lessons but this is how she got the lessons. She had to clean and on pack the boxes because the commie had just move in.

  4. My name is Kayla Pierson. I read this book for the Helen Ruffin reading Bowl. My favorite part of the book was the beggining. Where Franny and Sandy threw water balloons. Also how Nancy thinks she is better than everyone else. When the class shared about there summer Nancy said her family ivited everyone in Rusty Nail to watch thier new T.V.. Then she turned and looked at Franny and Sandy and ssaid not everyone. Well just sharing about my favorite part of the book.
